Dancing On the Edge is a production concept that was developed over the last 3 years by Darin Niebuhr-pianist, Krista Leigh Pasini-choreographer, and Susan Kennedy Sommerfeld-dance and theater direction. The musical basis of the collaboration is drawn primarily from Mr. Niebuhr’s latest CD entitled “Dancing On the Edge” on the Evangeline label, and the work of German composer Ratko Delorko and his piano cycle entitled “Zeitklang” The show’s program includes masterworks from 300 years ago to today, all of which are typically heard with just solo piano, that is until now….

The performers combine the elements of dance and theatrical treatments with Niebuhr’s artistry at the piano. There are moments of deep and moving introspection as well as whimsical and even comedic happenings. Dancing On the Edge truly has something for everyone and delivers a wonderful evening of music, movement and theater in a fresh new way. Strong thematic elements culminate in the show’s finale with dramatic flair.

Darin Niebuhr based in Portland, OR and concertizes in the US, Canada, and Europe. He is currently working on a tour and collaborations in Germany during November for the next concert season.

Krista Leigh Pasini based in Billings, Montana has danced virtually her entire life and now choreographs for many Northwest ensembles including: Montana’s Terpsichore Dance company, Rimrock Opera company, Billings Dance Academy and School of Classical Ballet where she teaches classical and contemporary technique. She has been commissioned for many independent projects as well.

Susan Kennedy Sommerfeld is an active member of the arts community in Billings, Montana. She has been a guest vocal artist with the Billings Symphony, and has been an actor, director and choreographer for numerous productions at Nova Performing Arts Center, Billings Studio Theater and independent artist projects. Additionally she has a successful stained glass studio Kennedy’s Stained glass with many regional placements.
